Our public observation times are always on Fridays. You can observe yourself through our telescopes the Moon, planets, stars, nebulae, and various other objects. Also, constellations will be explained, and we will answer your questions.
Call 0174 7010258 to find out whether the observatory is currently open. The number is not available when the observatory is closed.
Admission is free. Donations are gratefully accepted.
The observation evenings are starting roughly at the end of dusk:
September: 9 p.m.
October: 8 p.m.
November to February: 7 p.m.
March: 8 p.m.
April: 9 p.m.
May - August: Observation only of bright objects like moon and bright planets. The times will be announced here.
The observatory also offers a public WhatsApp channel where information about public observation evenings, lectures and special events are published. We welcome school classes to the observatory. Pupils can observe the currently visible planets and other celestial objects through our telescopes after dark. We also offer lectures about our solar system.
Here is some additional information in advance:
- The dates depend on the weather. There must be a sufficiently clear sky. Cancellations or postponements are therefore possible at short notice.
- The tour and lecture are free of charge, donations are welcome.
- We cannot provide transportation to and from our observatory.
- For every 20 children (3rd to 6th/7th grade), at least two adults should be present to supervise. From our side, at least two members of the observatory are also present.
- The number of visitors should not exceed 30 people.
- The observatory can accommodate a maximum of 10 people at a time. In the meantime, we offer to answer questions and provide explanations about the night sky for those waiting.
- Please wear warm clothing as the observatory is not heated.
